Privacy policy
This policy explains what information the Find me app collects, why, and the choices you have. Find me is run by 2050connect in Kigali, Rwanda ("we"). Contact: rw2050connect@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account: your email address (or phone number) used to sign in.
- Profile: first name, date of birth (to confirm you are 18+; others see only your age), city, short bio, languages, photos, what you are looking for (friendship and/or a serious relationship) and your activities.
- Approximate location: your phone's location, rounded to about 1 km before it leaves your phone, to set your country and show distances. Your exact location is never stored or shown to anyone.
- Messages and photos you send in chats, meetup invitations, and records of video calls (who called whom and when, not the call itself).
- Status: photos and short videos you share as a status, their captions, who watched them and the emoji reactions you get or give.
- Verification selfie, if you choose to verify your profile. Only our moderators see it.
- Safety records: blocks and reports you make or that are made about you.
- Settings: who can contact you, discreet mode, video call setting and language.
Face ID, Touch ID and fingerprint checks happen entirely on your phone. We never receive your face or fingerprint data.
How we use it
- To run the app: show you people with the same intention and activities in your country, deliver messages, invitations and calls.
- To keep people safe: enforce the 18+ rule, review reports and verification selfies, and suspend accounts that break our rules.
- To send you service emails about your account: payment receipts and a reminder before a paid plan ends.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We do not sell your information, we do not show ads, and we do not use your information for advertising.
Who we share it with
- Other members see your public profile (first name, age, city, bio, photos, activities, verified badge, rounded distance). Messages are only visible to the people in that chat. A status can be seen by members in your country and by your connections for 24 hours; only you see who watched it and who reacted.
- Service providers that run Find me for us: Supabase (database, storage and sign-in, hosted in Ireland, EU), Daily (video calls), pawaPay (mobile money payments on our website) and Resend (sending our service emails). They may only use the information to provide their service to us.
- Apple and Google, if you make purchases through their stores.
- Authorities, when the law requires it or to protect someone from serious harm.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, selfie, messages you sent and connections are deleted. Reports about safety are kept without your name so we can keep the community safe. Server backups are overwritten within 30 days.
With Find me Plus you can delete a message or photo you sent for both people in the chat. It disappears from the chat right away. A hidden copy is kept only so our safety team can review it if the chat is reported, and it is removed when your account is deleted. View-once photos can be opened one time only.
A status disappears from the app after 24 hours. The photo or video is then kept for up to 7 more days, only so our safety team can review it if it was reported, and is then deleted. You can delete a status yourself at any time.
Payments. If you buy Pro or Plus on our website, the payment is handled by pawaPay with your mobile money provider. We keep a record of the plan, amount, date and payment reference. We never see your mobile money PIN.
Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile, photos and settings in the app at any time.
- Hide from Discover, control who can send you requests, and turn video calls off.
- Delete your account in the app: Profile, then Delete my account. Or see how to delete your account.
- Ask us for a copy of your information or to correct it by emailing rw2050connect@gmail.com. Depending on where you live (for example under Rwanda's data protection law, Kenya's Data Protection Act, Nigeria's NDPA, Ghana's Data Protection Act or Senegal's personal data law), you may have further rights, including to complain to your data protection authority.
Age
Find me is only for people aged 18 or older. We remove accounts of anyone under 18. See our child safety standards.
Security
Information is sent over encrypted connections and protected by access rules, so people can only see what they are allowed to see. No system is perfectly secure; tell us at once if you think your account has been misused.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and tell you in the app when the change is important.
